The country’s largest passenger carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Thursday said it has extended the tenure of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Kenichi Ayukawa by another three years.
“The board of directors approved the re-appointment of Ayukawa as Managing Director and CEO for a period of three years with effect from April 1, 2016,” the company said.
The board has also approved re-appointment of Toshiaki Hasuike as Joint Managing Director for three years with effect from April 27, it said.
Ayukawa, now 61, had taken over the current position on April 1, 2013, after the retirement of predecessor Shinzo Nakanishi.
During his tenure, the company has introduced many new models, including the recently launched compact SUV Vitara Brezza, premium hatchback Baleno, Crossover S-Cross and mid-sized sedan Ciaz.
He served as Director on the Board of Maruti Suzuki India between July 2008 and March 2013.
