The country's largest passenger cars manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday reported sales of 1,13,162 units in May, a growth of 11 per cent as compared with 1,02,359 units in May 2015.
The growth was largely driven by the compact segment (Swift, Baleno), growing 11 per cent year-on-year to 46,554 units during the month as against 41,926 units in the corresponding month last year.
Its mid-size sedan Ciaz grew by more than three per cent to 5,188 units last month versus 5,012 units in May 2015, the company said.
In percentage terms, the utility vehicles segment (including the S-Cross) grew the highest with more than 144 per cent YoY growth to 13,596 units as compared with 5,567 units in the same month last year.
However, the mini segment (Alto, WagonR) declined by six per cent YoY to 33,105 units last month as compared with 35,062 units in May 2015.
