The country's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it had sold 1,21,063 units of cars in the domestic market in October, up 25 per cent as compared with 97,069 units in October last year.
According to the data shared by the company, maximum sales were led by the compact segment (Swift, Celerio and now Baleno) with 51,048 units during last month, up 38 per cent as against 37,083 units in the corresponding month last year.
The mini segment (Alto, WagonR) contributed 37,595 units to the total domestic sales, up five per cent as compared with 35753 units in October 2014.
Utility vehicles (like Gypsy, Ertiga and S-Cross) also contributed more than 56 per cent in the domestic sales with 9,435 units during the month as against 6,027 units in the corresponding month last year.
However, sales of mid-size sedan (Ciaz) fell seven per cent to 5,890 units last month as compared with 6,345 units in October 2014.
