Led by new models such as Baleno and Vitara Brezza, the country's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Monday reported 14 per cent growth in sales in July on year-on-year (YoY) basis.
The company sold a total of 1,25,764 passenger vehicles during the month as compared with 1,10,405 units in July 2015.
This is the company’s highest ever sales in a month in the domestic market, it said in a statement.
The sales were led by the compact segment with products such as Swift and Baleno at 50,362 units in July, up 4 per cent YoY as compared with 48,381 units in same month last year.
The utility vehicle segment grew multi-fold with models such as S-Cross and Vitara Brezza at 17,382 units last month as compared with 6,916 units in July last year.
Similarly, sales of its sedan Ciaz grew multi-fold YoY at 5,162 units during the month against 2,099 units in July 2015.
However, its mini segment including Alto and WagonR continued to fall at 35,051 units in July as against 37,752 units in corresponding month last year.
The company that has entered into light commercial vehicle with Super Carry last month in selective markets (Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana), has sold 14 units of the vehicle, the company added.
