The country’s largest passenger vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Wednesday said it will start selling its light commercial vehicle (LCV), ‘Super Carry’, by the end of next month.
The first LCV from the company is priced between ₹4.01 lakh and ₹4.11 lakh (₹4.01 lakh in Ludhiana; ₹4.03 lakh in Ahmedabad and; ₹4.11 lakh in Kolkata, all ex-showroom), the company said in a statement.
Initially, the vehicle will be sold in three cities — Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana — MSIL said in a statement. With Super Carry, the company marks its entry into the LCV segment too.
“Super Carry is designed and developed basis detailed research and understanding of customer requirements. It offers the best of both worlds – power and strength as well as carrying capacity. We are confident Super Carry will enhance the profitability of our customers,” R.S. Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), MSIL, said.
The new vehicle will be available in diesel fuel option and will come in two colours — Superior White and Silky Silver. MSIL has invested around ₹300 crore towards the development of Super Carry.
The new vehicle would be high on performance and strength with bigger loading area and better safety features.
It is powered by a 793cc light weight and compact, two-cylinder diesel engine. With a peak power of 24 KW @ 3500 RPM and max torque of 75 NM @ 2000 RPM, Super Carry offers better load carrying capacity and pick-up. The compact engine mated with the five-speed manual transmission offers high fuel efficiency of 22.07 km per litre and maximum speed of 80 kmph, the company said, adding that it has a payload of 740 kg in all terrains.
“It will be retailed through a dedicated ‘commercial’ sales channel,” Kalsi added.
