Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India has announced a 5.3 per cent growth in its sales number for the first quarter of calendar year 2013.
The company sold 2,009 units during the January-March 2013 period against 1,908 units in the same period of 2012.
Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “We are satisfied with the company performance in this quarter given the overall strain in the Indian economy and the fact that the passenger vehicles market has de-grown by double digits in January-February 2013.”
MBI is envisaging double-digit growth in the next quarter, he added.
With over 800 units sold, the E-Class was the single largest contributor to sales volumes this year. Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars (comprising completely built imported cars such as the AMG range, the SLK-Class and the CLS-Class) have registered highest growth of 48 per cent increase over the corresponding period in 2012.
