Mercedes-Benz India has launched its G63 AMG in the country at Rs 1.45 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai), replacing the G55 AMG that was launched two years ago.
The sports utility vehicle (SUV) was first showcased at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show.
“The G-Class has the essential attributes of a Mercedes-Benz: dynamism, comfort, safety and status. Yet its pedigree and classic form has been retained across the 34 years of its existence. The G-Class retains its shape, rugged design and the same mission to cope with extreme conditions,” Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Eberhard Kern said.
With luxurious interiors, discreet modifications in design and styling, enhanced safety features, a new infotainment system, the vehicle comes with a 5.5-litre supercharged AMG engine.
The G63 AMG SUV is a high-performance off-roader and is imported from Germany to India as a completely built unit.
The G-Class stars in the sequel A Good Day to Die Hard featuring Bruce Willis as the iconoclastic cop John McClane.
In a first of its kind engagement, the launch of the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG in India is also the platform to announce the premiere of the much awaited movie, A Good Day to Die Hard . The star-studded cast include Jai Courtney and Sebastian Koch. Released across Indian theatres this movie is being translated across 5 Indian languages.
Features
With a rated output of 400 KW (544 hp), the G 63 AMG develops maximum torque of 760 Nm. The exterior highlights include metallic paint and AMG radiator grille. There is an AMG exhaust system with twin chromed side tailpipes, AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels in Titanium Grey with red painted brake calipers and 275/50 R20 tyres.
The highlights on the interior include illuminated AMG stainless steel door sill panels, seats in designo leather, leather-trimmed dashboards, multi-function steering wheel as well as door centre panels in ruffled leather.
Outfitted with a start-stop system and brake energy regeneration, to cut down on fuel consumption, the SUV’s speed has also been restricted to 210 kmph.
