Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz on Monday said the company will be happy if it could match the sales of last year from its earlier prediction of double-digit growth.

The company had sold 13,502 units of cars last calendar year, but due to lot of issues, including Supreme Court not allowing sales of diesel cars above 2-litre engine in the National Capital Region, has affected the sales.

"The biggest influence was we were rerouting petrol variants from all over India to Delhi-NCR during that time. We could adjust the margin but not in a major way," Roland Folger, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz India, told reporters here.

He said the petrol-diesel ratio is now at 70:30, which the company expects to come down to 50:50 if issues get normal.

One of the good things was that there was no job cuts because of the impact across all its 89 outlets in 41 cities.

Meanwhile, the company also opened its 11th dealership in Delhi at Ashok Hotel, Chanakyapuri.

"We are sure that our ever-growing customer base will emerge much stronger in Delhi owing to the opening of new Silver Arrows dealership. Our aim has always been to reach out to our potential customer base," Folger added.
