Mercedes Benz showcased the G 500 4x4 at the Delhi Auto Expo among a host of high end passenger vehicles.
The new avatar of the former GLK, now the GLC, was unveiled at the auto expo today.
The GLC, a new SUV, completes Merc's range of offerings in this segment in India. The SUV will be pitted against the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5.
This car comes in both petrol and diesel versions globally in 2 litre and 3 litre engine capacity respectively. The petrol variant was unveiled today. It is scheduled to come into the Indian market in H2 2016.
SUVs which account for 30-35 per cent of Mercedes Benz's sales in India grew 100 per cent in 2015.
"The GLC that will be introduced in India in the second half of 2016 will bring similar growth, " Roland Folger, MD & CEO, Mercedes Benz India, said.
The company plans to build the vehicle in its plant at Chakan, near Pune.
