Mercedes-Benz India has seen a triple success, notching its best month, best quarter and best fiscal ever in terms of sales.
The German luxury car maker which is currently the market leader for luxury cars in the Indian market announced it has sold 13,558 units in fiscal 16, a growth of 21% over fiscal 15, while sales in the Jan to March 16 quarter at 3,622 units stood 1.6% higher over the same period of last year.
The Q1 sales momentum achieved is significant against the backdrop of the diesel ban in the key.
Delhi and NCR market, successive price hikes and a lack of incentives for the automotive sector in the Union Budget, Mercedes Benz India said in a statement.
The E-Class, celebrating 20 years in India, was the highest selling car model for the company in the first quarter of 2016. This was closely followed by the C-Class.
Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “We have been able to compensate the negative sales impact in the Delhi and NCR market, with a strong double digit growth achieved in most other markets across the country.”
