Mercedes-Benz India is set to launch the super luxury roadster SLK-55 AMG early next month and ending 2013 — designated as the year of the offensive — by adding a new product to India’s crore-plus car club.
Also due for launch in January is the company’s flagship S-Class in a completely new avatar. The car, which will be assembled locally, will be offered in both petrol and diesel versions, Eberhard Kern, MD and CEO, said.
The German luxury car maker currently has five other AMG cars in its India portfolio — the E-63, the C-63, the G-63 and the SLS AMG coupe as well as roadster (convertible) options.
The AMG is a high performance engine that is entirely built by hand by a single person — a one-man, one-engine concept.
In India, the company sells around 100 units of AMG cars per year.
