German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday launched the upgraded version of its SUV, GLS 350 d, in the Indian market, priced at ₹80.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
The model would be assembled at the company’s Chakan (Pune) manufacturing facility.
Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said in a statement, “India has a growing penchant for SUVs and at 100-per cent growth achieved in 2015, it was the highest growing segment for us.” India has also emerged as one of the top 10 markets for the GLS globally, Folger said.
Referred to as the ‘S-Class of SUVs’, the GLS boasts of a three-litre, V6 diesel engine producing 190 kW and 620 Nm of peak torque, motorised by 9G-TRONIC transmission. The GLS features a new three-spoke steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, full LED headlamps with intelligent light system, Airmatic suspension with adaptive dampening system plus, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay, active parking assist and 360-degree camera.
