The luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is pursuing a ‘15 in 15’ strategy under which the company plans to open 15 new dealerships in India and to launch 15 new products for Indian markets, according to Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
He said this while launching the 74th outlet of the company in Mangaluru on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the Mangaluru dealership is the fourth outlet under its ‘15 in 15’ strategy. Eleven more outlets would be opened in the remaining five months of 2015.
On product launches for 2015, he said the company has launched nine new products in 2015. The 10th product will be launched on August 11, and the remaining five products by the end of 2015.
He said Mercedes-Benz India registered 41 per cent growth in the first six months of 2015 by selling 6,659 units in the January-June 2015 period.
Mercedes-Benz India’s production facility is spread over 100 acres in Chakan near Pune. The production facility has an installed capacity of 20,000 units a year, he said.
Kern said Mangaluru has been witnessing steady growth in luxury cars and Mercedes-Benz’s presence in this emerging market would provide its customers a luxury car destination.
Sundaram Motors is the dealer for Mercedes-Benz in Mangaluru.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharath Vijayaraghavan, Executive Director of Sundaram Motors, said Sundaram Motors has Mercedes-Benz outlets in Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Madurai. Mangaluru is the latest addition in southern India, he said.
