German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday launched the upgraded version of its SUV — LS 350 d — in the Indian market at a price of ₹80.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
The model would be assembled at the company’s Chakan (Pune) based manufacturing facility.
Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said in a statement, “India has a growing penchant for SUVs and at 100 per cent growth achieved in 2015, it was the highest growing segment for us.”
India has also emerged as one of the top ten markets for the GLS globally, Folger said.
Referred to as the ‘S-Class of SUVs’, the GLS boasts of a 3-litre, V6 diesel engine producing 190 kW and 620 Nm of peak torque, motorised by 9G-TRONIC transmission.
The GLS features a new three-spoke steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, full LED headlamps with intelligent light system, AIRMATIC suspension with adaptive dampening system plus, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay, active parking assis and 360-degree camera.
The list of safety features include all-wheel drive traction control with 4ETS, ESP and brake assist, among others.
