Mercedes-Benz India on Wednesday launched its 13th product of the year — the AMG C43 — priced at ₹74.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is the third AMG product launch this year after the AMG GLE 43 Coupe and the AMG SLC 43.
Michael Jopp, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India, said: “With this sportscar, Mercedes-Benz India now extends the AMG brand promise of ‘driving performance' and the typical AMG character traits, to an even broader target group.”
With this launch, the company continues to offer the widest range of performance and speciality cars in the luxury segment, he said, adding “In 2016 we have already introduced a diverse range of never-seen-before cars for the Indian market.... The AMG C43 4Matic is the sixth car launched in India this year without a predecessor.”
The latest AMG is powered by a three-litre V6 Bi-turbo petrol engine and four cylinders.
It can churn out 270kW and 520 Nm torque available at as low as 2,000 rpm. It can accelerate from 0-100 in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph.
Safety system Apart from high-end technology for enhancing the driving performance and no compromise on fuel efficiency, the car is also equipped with safety systems.
For instance, the system is able to recognise critical driving situations as they develop, and initiate preventive occupant protection measures if an accident threatens.
These include reversible belt tensioning or automatic closing of open side windows.
The high structural safety of the body-shell, seven airbags and other restraint systems provide the best possible protection, the company said.
Assistance system It also has an assistance system, ‘Attention Assist’, that warns the driver when it detects typical signs of drowsiness in his/ her steering behaviour.
Other systems like a tyre pressure monitoring system continuously monitors the inflation pressure of all four tyres, the company added.
