RuhRPumpen, a $350-million Mexican company manufacturing centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, has invested nearly ₹100 crore in a new manufacturing plant near Oragadam.
For the last five years, the company has been manufacturing various types of pumps out of a rented unit near Chennai, said the company’s Director Cesar Augusto Elizondo Garza.
The company’s pumps are used in the petrochemical, mining, industrial, power, chemicals and waste water prevention sectors. The new facility has the latest pump performance testing capacity, which was not present in the rented premise, he told newspersons. Nearly 80 per cent of products manufactured from the Chennai plant will be exported to clients in West Asia and South-East Asia, and the rest sold in the domestic market. The company’s clients in India include Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Reliance Petroleum, he said.
Chennai was chosen for its local supply chain along with necessary sea and air logistics serving international locations, he said.
In addition to manufacturing products, Ruhrpumpen India provides engineering product services to Asia-Pacific customers and has implemented an engineering department to cater the needs of RuhRPumpen business units globally, he said.
