Midhani, the speciality materials maker for strategic sector, has flagged off an important product to Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).
The end-fitting forged billets made of special stainless grade are key components in the nuclear power generator. The Hyderabad-based Midhani has executed an order and supplied 900 of these end-fitting forgings.
Mr B.K. Dixit, Executive Director (engineering & procurement), NPCIL, said, “In future we may embark upon development of Light Water Reactors. Midhani has been the most reliable supplier for special alloys and critical steels for nuclear sector” and the co-operation between Midhani and NPCIL was crucial for the growth of the nuclear power sector.
Midhani faced several challenges while developing the end-fitting forgings, said Mr M. Narayana Rao, its Chairman & Managing Director. The demand for special steels in power, nuclear energy and strategic sectors is increasing.
Midhani is positioning itself for an increased share of this growing market by undertaking an expansion and modernisation programme. A range of new high temperature alloys for applications in demanding working environments are under development and would have applications in ultra super critical steam generators for augmenting India's energy security, Mr Rao said.
