The Mangalore MP has promised to discuss the iron ore requirement of KIOCL Ltd with the State and Central Governments.
Inaugurating the power-saving initiatives of KIOCL Ltd (formerly Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd) at its pellet manufacturing unit here on Saturday, he said he would meet the Karnataka Chief Minister and explore all possible ways to get a mine lease for KIOCL Ltd. The matter will also be discussed with the Centre, he said.
Mr K. Ranganath, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of KIOCL Ltd, appealed to Mr Kateel and Mr Krishna Palemar, former Minister and MLA, to take up the matter of allotment of captive mines to KIOCL Ltd with the State and Central Governments.
Mr Kateel said the company’s initiative to save power by using alternative sources of energy is a model for other industries.
Mr Palemar said KIOCL Ltd has understood the need for saving energy in all areas of production activity. Others, including the Government departments, should follow this, he added.
