November 23 is Cyrus’ birthday. No. Not Cyrus Mistry’s. But Miley Cyrus’ . So, Miley Cyrus birthday plus Cyrus Mistry’s appointment = Cyrus was trending in Twitter.
We all know (at least now) who Cyrus Mistry is. But who is Miley Cyrus? She is “an American actress and pop singer-songwriter”, says Wikipedia.
What has Miley Cyrus to do with Cyrus Mistry? The notice of Cyrus Mistry’s choice as the successor to Mr Ratan Tata came on Mistry Cyrus’ birthday. So what? A tweet by @shreyaspanse jocularly alleged there was scope for “the greatest conspiracy theory”.
Not only Indians, one @MileyBiggerFan, obviously Miley Cyrus’ fan, tweeted, “That moment when you think Cyrus Mistry is related to Miley”.
Jokes apart, by 8 p.m Cyrus Mistry was trending at #3, at least in India, after #kolaveri and sherry rahman. Coming after Cyrus Mistry was Ratan Tata.
“Cyrus Mistry appointment - one of the biggest stories ever in the history of corporate India and no media cracked it!,” said @jojiphilip
Several others dug into the history of Tatas and Mistrys and tweeted facts like “This Cyrus Mistry is the son of Pallongee (sic) Mistry from the Construction Firm, Shapoorjee Pallonjee.” (@MissTalks_a_Lot)
But most tweets were of the non-serious variety. “How much fun it would have been had the new head of Tata been Cyrus Broacha instead of Cyrus Mistry”, wondered @tanejamainhoon
Many tweets suggested Mistry was chosen because of the large shareholding of the group in Tata Sons. “CEO contender: Mere paas experience hai, global exposure hai, past performances hai | Cyrus Mistry: Mere Papa ke paas max. shareholding hai,” said @ultimate_quotes
One unexpected beneficiary of the appointment was another Cyrus Mistry, who many mistook for THE Cyrus Mistry. “haha a ton of ppl started following me this morning after the news about Cyrus Mistry - unfortunately, they got the wrong one. :)”.
