Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) has handled 5,000 ships in the last 16 years. The unloading of crude oil from the vessel m.t. Maharshi Parashuram at New Mangalore Port on July 17 marked the 5000th handling by MRPL. The company said here that the first vessel – m.t. C.V.Raman – unloaded Mumbai High crude on February 15, 1996. Till now, MRPL has handled 3020 product vessels and 1980 crude oil vessels at the New Mangalore Port.
