Narendra Kumar has taken over as the Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the sole supplier of compressed natural gas and piped natural gas in the national capital region.
Kumar replaces M. Ravindran, who has become Director (HR) of GAIL India Ltd, the company said in a statement here.
IGL is a joint venture of GAIL and BPCL, with the Delhi Government holding 5 per cent equity stake.
“Kumar, an Electrical Engineering graduate, brings to IGL a rich and diverse experience encompassing over 32 years in fertilisers and hydrocarbon industry,” it said.
He was Executive Director (Operations & Maintenance) and Officer-in-charge of central region of GAIL based at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh before joining the current assignment.
Before joining GAIL in 1990, he had served IFFCO for ten years at Phulpur and Aonla Fertiliser plants.
IGL has already embarked on a massive expansion programme in the National Capital Territory of Delhi as well as the National Capital Region.
About 286 CNG stations are currently in operation in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. IGL is supplying PNG to nearly 3,86,000 households in Delhi and NCR towns.
