Tata Starbucks has announced that Navin Gurnaney will take over as the Chief Executive Officer of the company from January 1, 2019. He will be replacing Sumitro Ghosh, who will be returning to US for a role within the Starbucks organisation.
“Navin Gurnaney has a proven track record of success within Starbucks and is a business leader with the ability to bring people together, as Tata Starbucks continues to innovate and position itself for long-term growth in the Indian market,” said John Culver, Group President, International, Channel Development and Global Coffee and Tea, Starbucks Coffee Company.
Ajoy Misra, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Global Beverages Limited, stated that Gurnaney is the right person to build on the momentum as he is a ‘seasoned leader’ who is focused on operations excellence, relevant innovation and developing high-performing teams.
Gurnaney had first joined Starbucks in 2004, where he worked on US business for eight years in operations, drive-thru optimisation and partner resources. He will return to India from Atlanta, Georgia. “I look forward to elevating the mission and values of the company through delivering the iconic Starbucks Experience for our Indian partners and customers,” he said.
