Cement and buildings materials company NCL Industries Ltd has begun commercial production of Duradoor from its greenfield manufacturing base set up near Hyderabad in technical collaboration with Turkish major AGT.
The Rs 50 crore Duradoor plant has been set up at Malkapur about 60 km from here and has begun to offer these easy to install, customisable doors. The plant machinery has been shifted from the AGT facility in Turkey and installed in the new plant, spread across 2,00,000 sq.ft, with a capacity to produce 1000 doors in a single shift.
Kurtuluş Topaloğlu, Director, Technical Operations of AGT, Turkey, said “this plant further consolidates our engagement with the diversified NCL Group. In less than 15 months since the memorandum was signed, the new plant has been set up and now ready to offer products.” AGT is amongst leading players in Medium Density Fibreboards (MDF), doors, profiles, flooring baseboards in Turkey.
K Ravi, Managing Director of NCL Industries, said, “Duradoor is coming to the market with a strategy to meet the rising consumer demand for world-class, robust door solutions in the housing and commercial buildings materials market. Our aim is to be the market leader and touch double-digit growth in this segment in the next few years.”
The country’s total door and window sector market is estimated to be about Rs 15,000 crore. Duradoor is pre-treated to withstand moisture, chemicals, termites and other common elements that effect the overall life of a door. With over 7200 choices, it provides a one stop solution suitable for apartments, houses and villas, hospitals, hotels and commercial buildings. It is being offered with a lifetime warranty and price ranges between Rs. 15,000 to Rs.20,000, which includes the shutter, architrave, frame, top of the line hardware and will be installed by professionally trained installation teams.
NCL Industries has been growing at 17 per cent on a year-on-year basis, and expects a turnover of about Rs. 1450 crore (Rs 1334 crore) in the current financial year (2018-19). With the addition of Duradoor in its product portfolio, the company aims to further consolidate its leadership in the building materials market.
Cement business
Referring to Cement business, Ravi said “the company plants with total annual installed capacity of 2.7 million tonnes are functioning at about 80 per cent capacity due to robust demand in the construction sector.” “Expansion is an ongoing process. Unless we do that we cannot survive in the cement sector,” he said.
“The company is investing Rs 80 crore for an 8 mw heat recovery plant at its cement plant which is likely to bring about saving of about Rs 25 crore per annum in the power bill,” NGVSG Prasad, ED and CFO, said.
The Rs 2000 crore NCL Group businesses include cement, cement bonded particle boards, ready mix concrete, spray plasters and paints, AAC Blocks, colour coated steel profiles for doors and windows and uPVC Windows.
