NDTV has converted its entire master control and content distribution infrastructure to full high-definition (HD) operation, a company official has said.
“We recognised that in order to stay one step ahead of the competition and to keep our business moving forward, we had to make the move to HD,” said Mr Dinesh Singh, Chief Technology Officer for NDTV at the Broadcast Asia, 2012 here.
HD videos and pictures have a much higher resolution than the standard video, providing sharper and better quality image. NDTV has purchased ‘HD-based K2 Summit Transmission Server’ technology from broadcast equipment supplier Grass Valley, which will help it in smooth transition to HD in the near future. Grass Valley announced the development.
The migration to HD file-based workflows is seen by NDTV as an investment to support HD transition in the near future, it said.
