Nestle India’s iconic Chairman and Managing Director Suresh Narayanan is retiring from the company effective July 31, 2025. He will be succeeded by senior Amazon executive Manish Tiwary, who is slated to take over as the Managing Director of the Indian subsidiary of the Swiss packaged food major from August 1, next year.
In a BSE filing, Nestle India said that Narayanan will be taking a “well-deserved retirement” after an “illustrious career of 26 years with the Nestle Group.”
“Nomination has been received from Nestlé SA for the appointment of Manish Tiwary as the Managing Director of Nestlé India with effect from August 1, 2025. The proposal is subject to necessary approvals,” it added in its BSE filing.
Tiwary is currently serving as Director at Amazon Digital Services and More Consumer Brands, and he will step down from this position on October 30, 2024.
Before this, he was serving as the Country Manager of Amazon India. He joined Amazon in 2016 after a 20 year career at Unilever, where he held roles in sales, marketing, and general management across various categories and channels in India, the Gulf and North Africa.
“Manish is a distinguished business executive with nearly three decades of experience in leading large scale operations and strategic initiatives within the e-commerce and consumer goods sectors,” the company added.
Turnaround CEO
Popularly known as the “turnaround CEO”, Narayanan, who took over as Nestle India CMD in 2015, is credited with helping the company successfully navigate the Nestle Maggi crisis and putting the packaged food major on a strong growth path. Under his stewardship, the company strengthened its innovation pipeline by introducing a slew of new products and also launched the pet care business in India. More recently, Nestle entered into a joint venture with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories to scale up its nutritional health solutions business in India.
In his 26 years stint with Nestle, Naryanan has held senior leadership roles in various geographies including Singapore, Egypt and Philippines. Previously, the veteran FMCG executive had stints at Hindustan Unilever and Colgate Palmolive India.
