Hyundai’s upcoming electric vehicle for the domestic market will offer a longer operating range on a single charge, according to B C Datta, Vice-President — Corporate Affairs, Hyundai Motor India Ltd.
“We are going to launch our electric car — Kona — this year and it will be the best electric car available in the world. Kona will be made and sold in India. The car will run for 350 km on a single charge and charging time is just one hour,” he said. The company will be signing an agreement with the State government at the GIM for its upcoming expansion. It plans to increase the production capacity from seven lakh passenger vehicles to eight lakh units, which is expected to create 700 jobs.
With the latest plan, its cumulative investment in Tamil Nadu will be ₹23,900 crore and this is the largest investment of an auto company in a single location in India.
