Nissan India announced on Monday an up to two per cent increase in prices on the Micra hatchback. Effective immediately, prices of both the diesel and petrol variants of the small car will go up by Rs 2,500-11,170. However, the company has not revised the prices of the other models imported as completely built units, such as the SUV X-Trail, Teana sedan and the 370Z sports car.
Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India, said, “There has been a steady increase in the input cost over a period of time. It has come to a situation now that the price hike is inevitable.” Nissan's announcement follows similar price increases announced recently by market leader Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra in order to offset the increased cost of raw materials like steel and rubber.
