Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd has hiked the prices of select models by 1.4 to 2.9 per cent. The increase is effective Tuesday.

The hike will be across most variants of sedan Sunny, hatchback Micra and Micra Active, the company said in a press release.

“The prices are revised to minimise the impact of rupee depreciation and offset rising input costs and raw materials costs due to inflation. The price increase is marginal,” said Nitish Tipnis, Director–Sales and Marketing, Hover Automotive India. Hover is Nissan’s Indian sales arm.

Other car manufacturers are also hiking prices. On July 15, Audi, the German luxury carmaker, had hiked prices across all models in India by up to 4 per cent.

In September, Hyundai Motor India said it will increase prices across all its models, starting from Eon to Santa Fe, by Rs 4,000-20,000 from October 1. General Motor India said it will increase prices by Rs 2,000-10,000 from October. Toyota Kirloskar Motor had announced a hike in prices of its key models by up to Rs 24,000 with effect from September 21.

Tata Motors had also announced a hike of about 1.5 per cent across its passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
