Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan’s Nissan Motor Co, on Thursday launched its new Nissan Sunny in India.
The New Sunny is based on the popular 10th generation model, which was first launched in India in 2011. The new car comes with a bigger front grille, boomerang shaped headlamps and chrome detailing around the car.
“India is a key strategic growth market for Nissan. We continue to monitor its evolution closely to ensure our expanding product portfolio fits regional needs. The New Sunny is our response to the changing demands and desires,” Andy Palmer, Chief Planning Officer at Nissan Motor Corp said.
“When first introduced in 2011, the Sunny redefined the spaciousness and value proposition in its segment, setting new benchmarks in India. The aspirations of Indian sedan customers have evolved since then but we are confident that the New Sunny is now even better equipped to meet and surpass them. The new model will strengthen our presence within this crucially important and growing segment,” said Kenichiro Yomura, President, Nissan India Operations.
The New Sunny range includes three petrol and five diesel variants, with prices starting at Rs 7.29 lakh for the XE petrol variant. The petrol engine will be available with a choice of 5-speed manual and Xtronic CVT automatic transmission, while the diesel variants are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The petrol variants offer ARAI certified fuel efficiency figures of 16.95 kmpl and 17.97 kmpl for manual and CVT transmission respectively. The figure has improved to 22.71kmpl now for the diesel variants.
