Mainly driven by the popularity of its small car Micra, the Nissan Motor India (NMIPL), a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Japan, today reported a surge in sales in June at 1,632 units, compared to the same month last year. In June 2010, Nissan Motor India had sold only 77 units, the automaker said in an issue released here.
The Micra compact hatchback, the first model to be manufactured at the company’s Chennai plant, is driving the sales boost and accounted for 1,069 units last month.
The remaining sales comprised of Teana sedan, X Trail lifestyle SUV and 370Z sports car. Nissan has already sold over 16,688 units of Micra in India, since it went on sale in July 2010 and it continues to be exported to the world markets.
