Two thermal units each of 500 MW capacity will be set up at Tuticorin next year, a top Neyveli Lignite Corporation official said today.
It is a joint venture between the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and NLC, the company's Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mr A.R. Ansari, said after hoisting the national flag on Independence Day.
The Centre has approved new thermal projects of 1,000 MW at Neyveli, two units of 500 MW each, he added.
A 250 MW project was ‘synchronised’ on June 27 and commercial operation is expected soon.
