Novartis India has reported a 6.45 per cent increase in its net profit to Rs 43.18 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2011 over the same period previous fiscal.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 40.56 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, Novartis India said in a filing to the BSE.
Net sales for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 stood at Rs 206.76 crore against Rs 184.91 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal.
For the half-year ended September 30, 2011, the net profit rose to Rs 80.75 crore from Rs 72.09 crore in the same period last fiscal.
Pharmaceuticals continued to be the main driver for the company, the filing said.
Shares of Novartis India ended the session at Rs 836 on the BSE, up 1.11 per cent from its previous close.
