H&R Johnson (India) and Walt Disney have come together to launch Disney branded ceramic tiles.
The country’s leading tile maker, a part of Prism Cement Ltd, has rolled out Disney bathroom concepts targeting kids, schools, play schools, theme parks, to be marketed under the Johnson Tiles brand.
“The roll-out of Disney bathroom concepts has commenced from Andhra Pradesh. These concepts feature Disney’s best loved stories inspired by its characters such as Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. These have been rolled out after extensive research over the last two years,’’ Dinesh Vyas, Brand Head (Johnson), H&R Johnson (India), said.
The Johnson tiles division, which has an installed capacity of 51 million sq.ft across nine manufacturing units, closed last fiscal with revenues of Rs 1,729 crore. It is looking at about Rs 2,000 crore revenue this financial year.
The company has completed a project at Karaikal as part of the Rs 400-crore expansion. It plans to take up major expansion of its retail formats by setting up 300 experience zones over the next 2-3 years. Of this, 150 zones are expected to come up in South India.
Of the country’s Rs 18,000-crore tile market, the organised sector accounts for about 40 per cent. In the organised sector, Johnson accounts for about 22 per cent share, Vyas said.
