NTPC Ltd has announced the commissioning of the first unit of the 2x660 MW super-critical Meja Thermal Power Project in Allahabad. A joint venture between NTPC Ltd and the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUN), the Meja Urja Nigam Pvt Ltd (MUNPL) successfully achieved its full load of 660 MW from its first unit on March 31, an NTPC statement said.
NTPC’s total power generation now stands at 53,651 MW. The NTPC group has 21 coal-based, 7 gas-based, 11 solar PV, 1 hydro, 1 small hydro, 1 wind and nine subsidiaries or joint venture power stations. The state-owned power generator is currently building an additional capacity of over 19,000 MW at multiple locations across the country.
