PSU energy firm NTPC Ltd has reported a ₹2,426.02-crore profit for Q2 FY19, 0.5 per cent lower than the ₹2,438.60 crore seen in Q2 FY18. The slide was despite a 12.65 per cent rise in total income to ₹22,485.96 crore (₹19,960.35 crore).
“The net profit has been lower as the company had received some tax refund in the corresponding quarter of last financial year,” an NTPC official told BusinessLine .
The company reported a 1.46 per cent YoY increase in gross electricity generation to 65.987 billion units. But sequentially, there was a 4.66 per cent dip in gross electricity generation due to coal supply constraints. During the quarter ended June 2018, it had reported gross generation at 69.212 billion units.
