NTPC, the country’s largest power generation company, needs to urgently commence mining from the 10 coal blocks allotted to it, the company’s top official said here today.
Addressing the employees on the company’s 38th raising day, CMD of NTPC, Arup Roy Choudhury said, “Now we have 10 coal mines to take care of the fuel security and also there is urgent need to commence mining operations.”
He appreciated the efforts put in by employees stationed in brown and greenfield projects, inspite of difficulties.
Laying emphasis on the need for better quality, he said, .
“There is need for quality assurance, cost consciousness, technological and commercial prudence for best results for the company.”
NTPC has an installed capacity of 4,1684 MW. It has also diversified into hydro-power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading and distribution.
It has about 1,500 MW hydro power capacity under construction and is also operating close to 4,000 MW of gas-based power plants in the country.
The company plans to add about 20,000 MW to its existing installed capacity by 2017.
