The NTPC-Simhadri thermal power station here is set to achieve another milestone on Sunday, according to a press release. The unit three (500 MWs) of the second stage is ready for commercial operation and the Union Power Minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, will declare full load commercial operation of the unit at a function late afternoon.
The Union Minister of State for Power, Mr K.C Venugopal, will also participate as the guest of honour on the occasion. The NTPC-Simhadri located at Parawada in Visakhapatnam district has now three units (500 MWs apiece) in operation and one more unit of 500 MWs will be ready after the completion of the expansion project.
It is the most modern project in the country, with the best control and instrumentation systems, the release stated. The third unit was synchronised with the AP State grid on March 29 and had achieved full commercial load in five months' time.
