NTPC, Singareni Collieries sign up for more coal supplies

NTPC Ltd and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for supply of 50 lakh tonnes of additional coal. According to a statement, the supply agreement will be valid for one year and enable NTPC stations meet additional fuel requirements. As per the arrangement, SCCL would supply 50 lakh tonnes (lt) of additional coal to NTPC stations for a period of one year from July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012, in addition to supply of 102 lt of coal a year under the existing long-term fuel supply agreement with NTPC. This additional 50 lt of coal would be utilised to meet the shortages being faced by NTPC coal-based stations. —
