NTPC supplies power to Gujarat Urja Vitran Nigam

NTPC Ltd has supplied 100 MW of un-requisitioned surplus from its Dadri Stage-1 plant to Gujarat Urja Vitran Nigam, the company said on Monday.

The power was supplied on Sunday evening and Monday morning as per the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission tariffs, an official statement added.

“Power has been supplied based on the request received from GUVNL to meet the power demand of the state of Gujarat which is facing power shortage due to multiple outage of their generating units,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Power’s Web site Vidyut Pravah shows that Gujarat purchased 921 MW of power from the power exchanges in the 24-hour period from 4 pm on Sunday till 4 pm on Monday.

In the preceding 24-hour period, the state’s electricity distribution utilities purchased 532 MW from the power exchanges. Electricity prices on the exchange moved up to ₹ 2.68 a unit in the 24-hour period from 4 pm on Sunday from ₹ 2.43 a unit in the preceding period.

Due to the purchases, state electricity distribution utilities were able to meet 13,224 MW of power demand in Gujarat from 4 pm on Sunday. According to the Vidyut Pravah Web site, the purchases helped remove power shortage in the state.
