The state-owned oil marketing companies (OMC) are expected to take a call on petrol price hike on Friday. The proposed 50 paise a month diesel price hike, however, may wait a little longer, according to a senior OMC official.
“Petrol price hike is imminent (as prices of petrol are shooting up in the world market), we may take a decision tomorrow (Friday) after a review meeting. But decision on diesel prices might be delayed,” the official said on condition of anonymity. He was in the city in connection with the Oil Industry Safety Directorate Conference.
Earlier, Union Minister of State for Petroleum Panabanka Lakshmi refused to comment on price hike. “It is for companies to decide on price hike,” she told media persons.
