Olectra Greentech Ltd has launched eBuzz K6 LuXe, its first luxury mini electric bus. The 7-metre air-conditioned luxury coach has a seating capacity of 11 + D (Driver).

Another variant of K6 with 22 seats was launched on World Environment Day this year, and was exported to Nepal. It is is on offer for the Indian markets as well. These buses are manufactured by Olectra Greentech through a partnership with BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd, the world’s largest electric vehicle company.

eBuzz K6 LuXe can run over 200 km in a single charge and comes with advanced Li-ion battery that can be charged within 3-4 hours. It can be driven consistently at a maximum speed of 80 KMPH, as per the Motor Vehicle Act guidelines.

It also has the option of regenerative braking which enables the bus to recover part of the kinetic energy lost in braking. The ebuzz K6 LuXe is built as per AIS 052 and UBS-II specifications as prescribed by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).

N Nagasatyam, Executive Director, Olectra Greentech Ltd, said, “Olectra-BYD has been a pioneer in the electric public transport system in India. The new eBuzz K6 LuXe enables us to tap the high-end customers looking for an eco-friendly and comfortable road transport option.”

Olectra has supplied 25 electric buses to HRTC and 6 electric buses to BEST. Recently, Olectra-BYD emerged as the winner for the bids to supply 200+ electric buses to various major STUs.

The company had also launched eBuzz K9 and eBuzz K7 which are 12 m and 9 m, respectively. K7 had started its operatons in September 2017 between Kullu-Manali under Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation. Recently, it started its operations between Manali-Rohtang pass.

The company is also operating K7 in Mumbai under Brihan Mumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST).The 12 m variant, K9 has successfully completed its trials in Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Goa, Rajkot, and Hyderabad.
