The 726-MW gas-based power project at Palatana in Tripura’s Gomati district set up by ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC) would start generation by the end of July.
“The first unit of the Palatana power project would start generation by the end of July,” Mr K. Satyanarayana, the Asset Manager of ONGC’s Tripura unit, told PTI today.
He said 2.6 million standard cubic meter of gas per day would be required for starting generation in full scale. It would take a few more months to make it fully operational.
Four northeastern states — Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Manipur — will buy power from the plant. Northeast Power Trading Company has started erecting a transmission line from Palatana to Bongaigaon in Assam, ONGC officials said.
They said while Rs 3,500 crore has been invested for generation, Rs 1,800 crore was being invested for transmission of power.
