Orient Cement plans to invest about ₹2,000 crore on expanding its facility in Adilabad district in Telangana. Deepak Khetrapal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Orient Cement Limited, met Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday and informed him about the expansion plan.
Khetrapal requested Rama Rao to provide limestone linkage from TSMDC (Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation) for long-term requirements of the plant.
“The CK Birla Group company would increase the capacity of its Devapur (Mancherial) facility in Adilabad district to 7.5 million tonnes a year from the present 3.05 million tonnes,” a government communication said.
KT Rama Rao said the government extend all the support required to facilitate the expansion plans. “The company secured the preliminary clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF). The final clearance of MoEF is awaited,” it said.
The construction of the plant is expected to start within four months once the final clearance from MoEF is received. It is likely to provide 4,000 direct jobs.
