Sridhar Ramamurthy, Chief Financial Officer of consumer goods maker Hindustan Unilever, has been elevated as Senior Vice President (Finance) at its parent company Unilever with effect from July 1, 2014.
Sridhar is third to join the global team in the last 24 months after the company's Chairman Harish Manwani and CEO Nitin Paranjpe.
Sridhar will be a part of Unilever's Global Markets Executive and will be based in London. Meanwhile, PB Balaji, Vice President (Finance), Unilever Americas, will succeed Sridhar. He had joined HUL in 1993 and was the vice president (finance) of HUL's home and personal care business before moving to a global role in 2011.
Sridhar joined HUL in 1989 was appointed as CFO in 2009. He has worked in a number of finance and commercial roles in India till December 2002 spanning internal audit, factory commercial, post-acquisition Integration of TOMCO with then HLL (Hindustan Lever Ltd), supply chain and corporate Accounts.
In January 2003, he moved to Singapore to take up the position of Vice President - Finance and Controller, Home and Personal Care Business Group for Unilever in Asia. With the changes to the Unilever organisation during 2005 - 2008, his role expanded over the years and he was appointed Vice President - Finance and Controller, Unilever Asia, Africa, Middle East, Turkey, Central & Eastern Europe (AACEE), the largest of the 3 regions of Unilever.
A gold medallist chartered accountant, Sridhar is also a qualified cost accountant and company secretary. He is a member of the Stakeholder Relationship Committee and Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of HUL.
