Philips Lighting has launched its 'intelligent' web-based LED lighting solution based on the Internet of Things concept.
Called Philips Hue, it allows users to control home lighting anytime, anywhere and allow users to create and control home lighting through their smartphones or tablets and is priced at Rs 16,995. Further, it works on iOS and android mobile platforms, company officials said. Further, the Philips Hue range for India includes Hue starter kit which includes the bridge and three lamps.
The company believes that lighting is becoming more a part of lifestyle and the Hue range is focusing more on the people who are looking at high-end luminaires. "With our technology people will change the way people have experienced and interacted with lighting till now,” said Harsh Chitale, CEO, Philips Lighting-South Asia.
Industry estimates for high end luminaires market in India is pegged at Rs 3,000 crore and initially Philips will showcase the new solutions in its ‘Light Lounge’ and online e-commerce portals such as Snapdeal, who is its exclusive online partner. Apart from Light Lounges, which are numbered at 140 across the country, Philips will sell Hue through Croma and Reliance Digital stores.
