Pune has just become home to South Asia’s first Motoplex store, a concept that was first launched by Italian company Piaggio in its home country a year or so ago.
The Motoplex is a one-stop lifestyle store for three of the Italian group’s most prestigious two-wheeler brands — motorcycle brands Aprilia and Moto Guzzi, and the Made-in-India premium scooter brand Vespa.
“This is not the usual kind of dealership, but a point of aggregation for bikers,” Stefano Pelle, Managing Director, Piaggio India explained, adding that the concept would bring a premium life experience to buyers while helping the company get closer to the customer.
The idea stemmed from the thought that the network had to be revamped and required a different corporate identity, Pelle said.
By the end of 2015 there would be 90 such stores across the world. While the first store in India is company owned and company operated, Piaggio dealers will help the concept expand. “In India there will be at least three more such stores in the next two to three months in cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai,” Pelle said.
