Piaggio India has launched a new range of its Vespa and Aprilia scooters with tech-enabled features such as GPS tracking, USB charging port and other connectivity options.

The new 2018 Aprilia SR 150 range includes Aprilia SR 150, SR 150 Race along with limited-edition SR 150 Carbon. Three models were introduced in the Vespa range — Vespa VXL 150, SXL 150 and Notte 125.

The new SR 150 and Carbon 150 have a new digital instrument cluster along with USB provision. While the mobile connectivity feature is standard on the Carbon edition, it is available as an optional accessory on the new SR 150. The new Vespas also get mobile connectivity feature to step the convenience factor.

The 2018 Aprilia SR 150 Carbon and new SR 150 are now available at ₹73,500 and ₹70,031 respectively (ex-showroom, Pune).

The Aprilia SR 150 2018 comes in four new colours — matt black, blue, glossy red and white — and gets an adjustable suspension. It comes with a 154.8cc engine that produces around 10.4 bhp of power and 11.4 Nm of torque. The limited-edition Aprilia Carbon SR 150, on the other hand, is inspired by carbon components found on Aprilia track bikes. The scooter comes in an all-black theme with carbon graphics and new adjustable suspension.

The new Aprilia SR 150 Race edition gets its inspiration from the flagship RS-GP bike that has been especially designed for MotoGP. The scooter has a white base with red and green body graphics along with a golden brake calliper. In addition to these features, SR 150 Race gets adjustable shock absorbers, and new windshield. The new 2018 Aprilia SR 150 also gets a digital instrument cluster along with a tall windscreen.

The new Vespa range is priced at ₹91,140 for VXL 150 and ₹97,276 for the top-end SXL variant (ex-showroom, Pune), and is powered by a 150 cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 11.4 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The engines come paired with an automatic transmission. Vespa Notte, on the other hand, is powered by a 125 cc, air-cooled engine 10 bhp and develops 10.6 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a CVT transmission. It is priced at ₹68,829 (ex-showroom Pune).

The scooters come in new colour options, along with new machine-cut alloy periphery wheels.

A new mobile app for the scooters, available for both Android and iOS users, lets customers access accurate GPS information and emergency contact details, and help locate nearby service centres. It also includes a distress button, ‘find my vehicle’ function and helps locate nearby petrol pumps.

Ashish Yakhmi, Head of Two-wheeler Business, Piaggio, said: “It is a matter of immense pride for us to celebrate six years of Vespa and two years of Aprilia in India. We have received great response for both our brands, and the growth in our two-wheeler business is a testimony to that. We are excited to launch our new range of scooters to fulfil the needs of our customers, also aligning our strategy of pursuing global innovations. By the end of 2018, we will also launch 300 Motoplexes in India.”
