Piaggio Vehicles has launched the all-new apé City Compact Diesel 3-wheeled urban passenger mobility vehicle and sees this playing a role in increasing its market share.
The new ape’ City Compact Diesel is fitted with a 395 CC diesel engine, which has powered several Piaggio vehicles successfully.
The company says it offers the best mileage in its class, superior pick-up and acceleration. Apart from offering a hand clutch facilitating superior drivability, its compact design makes it ideal for city traffic, the company stated.
Hardip Goindi, Executive Vice-President of Piaggio India, said “Anticipating customers’ need for a small, fuel-efficient and comfortable three-wheeler, we conceived the apé City Compact Diesel to deliver exceptional value and a superior experience to our customers. The apé City Compact Diesel will help consolidate our position in the 3-wheeler market.”
The apé City Compact Diesel is a strategic initiative from Piaggio to further expand its share in the 3-wheeler market post the success of its ape’ City LPG 3-wheeler. This has been developed on the basis of Piaggio’s on-going customer feedback programme.
Piaggio Vehicles is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Piaggio and C.S.p.A of Italy. The manufacturing plant at Baramati in Maharashtra has an installed capacity of over 300,000 three-wheelers and 80,000 four-wheelers.
