The sales are slated to start this September. The company plans to add another 10 dealers by December 2011.
Mr Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd, told Business Line : “The specialised automobile market is still nascent in India. For us, the prime goal is to sensitise the consumers and create volumes for this new market.
The growth area for us would be in the segment of power sports, followed by utility application in the areas of construction, forest, military, police and paramilitary forces.”

Polaris India has already started a technical centre in association with engineering major Larsen &Toubro.
The company, which has started its operations in the country through a wholly-owned subsidiary, is looking to set up a research and development centre, design centre and introduce its high-end motorcycles in India in the next 3-5 years.
