Targeting under 18 age group, off-road vehicle maker Polaris India today launched its range of powersports vehicles ‘Sportsman90’ and ‘RangerRZR’ in the country, priced at Rs 3.2 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh, respectively.
The company, which has launched its range of vehicles in the country last year, is also eyeing a turnover of $100 million by 2016.
“There is a great potential in the under 18 (age) category and that is the reason we have introduced these vehicles today...We are exporting these vehicles as completely built-up units (CBU) from the US,” Polaris India Managing Director, Mr Pankaj Dubey, told reporters here at the 11th Auto Expo.
He, however, declined to comment on the sales targets.
The company is also eyeing a turnover of $100 million by 2016 as it expands its dealers' network in the country.
“We just entered the market four months back and are rapidly increasing our dealer network. We currently have 10 dealers and by the end of 2012, we should take the number to 25. By 2016, we are looking at a turnover of $100 million,” Mr Dubey said.
Asked about the marketing spend, he said the company will invest in “experiential” marketing.
“Each of our dealers will have a track where the prospective buyers can try their hands on the machine and get the driving experience before making the purchasing decision,” he said.
Polaris India, a subsidiary of the US-based Polaris Industries, has off-road, snow mobiles and all-terrain vehicles available in India priced between Rs 2.85 lakh and Rs 25 lakh. Its flagship products include ATVs, Polaris Ranger, side-by-side vehicles and Snowmobile.
